You’d have to be living under a rock if you’ve avoided the long arm of The Sugar Bear for this long. We have to say, we were resistant to the pull of this ubiquitous brand. We didn’t want to believe the hype.
But as explorers whose lifelong quest is the perfect sleep gummy, it was inevitable that our paths would cross. And like a meet-cute in a rom com, we and this pastel gummy fell instantly in love.
Wow: These are powerful little bears. The recommended serving is two gummies, which comes to a whopping 6 mg of melatonin. We love a generous melatonin helping, but find that 3 mg is plennnnty.
6 mg and we veer into serious morning grog territory. So maybe start with a single gummy bear dose & see how that goes for you!

5-HTP
In a world of a thousand pharmaceutical antidepressants, research into the naturally-occurring amino acid 5-HTP shows that it may potentially raise serotonin levels higher than traditional pharmaceuticals.* For comparison, another popular herbal supplement for depression, St. John’s Wort, boosts serotonin to about the same level as Prozac.
Obviously, we’re not recommending these as a replacement for prescription meds. But if we can get a great night’s sleep AND top off our serotonin? This is 2020 after all, and we’ll take all the serotonin we can get. Color us obsessed.
Valerian
As if we were not relaxed enough, let’s bring on the Valerian! Valerian is a popular herb and natural remedy used to address insomnia. We know we’ve sipped our fair share of Valerian tea trying to tame the sleepbeast. Studies aren’t entirely sure how it works its magic, but it appears to increase GABA levels in the body. Increased GABA = increased calm. Simple math!
