Hyaluronic Acid & Collagen are a beauty gummy power couple, so don’t sleep on this one! Plus Olly is a brand that delivers time and time again. We can never get enough of their delicious, inventive flavors.
Note: If you aren’t up to speed on the benefits of collagen (and potential drawbacks if you’re looking for vegan supps!), we definitely recommend you launch into our collagen deep dive first. And if you’re thinking of putting snails on your face, definitely read this first.
So what is Hyaluronic Acid?
And why is it in every beauty product these days? We’ve recently noticed multiple celebrities extolling the benefits of it in skin care commercials, braving their way through that hi-al-you-ron-ic mouthful. But they aren’t wrong!
Hyaluronic Acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in our bodies. Isn’t that sweet? It binds to collagen on one side (we told you they were a perfect couple!), and water molecules on the other, making it a critical way to help skin stay hydrated and plump.
Bad news though: As we get older, our bodies slow down the production of our natural collagen and hyaluronic acid, and we start to lose more than we make.
Supplements like these keep that from happening. Lock in that moisture however you can! Not just for the lewks, but supple, full skin also helps maintain that protective barrier from suboptimal weather, free radicals, and anything else that sucks the moisture (and glow!) from your skin.1
Glowing Skin gummies contain 120 mg, a pretty common dosage among supplements with Hyaluronic Acid.
Sea Buckthorn
Superfood sea buckthorn also figures prominently in this gummy. If you’re new to the sea buckthorn game, sea buckthorn is an herb that’s been used widely to treat a variety of different ailments from arthritis to skin rashes. What a little multi-tasker! And over the years, it’s gained popularity in anti-aging products. We can see why!
Proponents of sea buckthorn have noticed the effectiveness in treating eczema, general dermatitis, and skin tone evenness.2 And it also works as an antioxidant. Yes, please!
And, let’s be honest, who can ever get enough superfoods in their diet? Not us!
Collagen
Here’s a closer look at what’s inside: these gummies only have 120 mg of collagen. To compare, the Neocell Beauty Bursts, of which we’re long time users, have 2,000 mg per serving.
These levels do make a difference, especially if you are looking for specific results from your collagen product. For example, this Gummy Girl suffers from nails that easily break. A steady dose of collagen over the years has ensured that our nails don’t snag and rip off at the slightest of hand-related tasks. Quelle horreur. Who else knows what we’re talking about? 🙋🏻♀️
So we initially jumped on these mostly because we love a collagen gummy with benefits. While these helped maintain our nail integrity, these did not deliver over-top-results with va-va-voom nail growth.
That said, we’ve definitely seen that taking hyaluronic acid consistently does have a noticeable effect keeping our skin supple and smooth. And these fit the bill!
So in short: We highly recommend these as the glowing skin booster they are. But, if you’re angling for more dramatic results from your collagen supplements (and nails-of-steel firmness!), look to supplements with larger amounts of collagen, like Olly’s Collagen Rings or the Beauty Bursts!
