When Highline Wellness announced that they were coming out with a new CBD “wellness” gummy, we racked our brains trying to figure out what it could be.
They already have an Immunity Gummy (which we have yet to try, but stay tuned!). Could it be a multi?
Turns out Highline Wellness tackled one of the most popular but daunting gummy ingredients: Apple Cider Vinegar! 🤯
Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
Highline Wellness was our first foray into the world of CBD gummies, so while we’ve been around the CBD block a few times since then, we’ll always have a special spot for them in our hearts.
Back in October, Highline Wellness launched a new gummy into their ever-growing roster: a CBD + caffeine gummy. We were legit beside ourselves with excitement. You can read our full gush over here, but suffice it to say that we are so glad you were born, little CBD star.
But that’s not all! Because in between the launch of the energy gummy and this Apple Cider Vinegar Gummy, they also managed a melatonin gummy collab with a chic, boutique hotel chain and came out with a CBD Facial Mist and an Under Eye Balm, both created with noted beauty influencer Alyssa Lynch.
Basically, they don’t sleep. (But we do. With that sweet, sweet CBD.)
Ok, back to the ACV:
Apple Cider Vinegar
Yes, Goli’s Apple Cider Vinegar gummies have taken the world by storm in the last few years, but now a new ACV gummy has stepped up to the plate to challenge the reigning champ.
And this gummy has an ace up its sleeve: CBD.
If you’re not familiar with Apple Cider Vinegar, let’s run through it real quick.
👉 If you’re looking for a long-form breakdown of ACV gummies, look here!
ACV is produced from, you guessed it, apple cider, and it’s essentially a fermentation process similar to kombucha.
Through this process, sugars in the cider are metabolized by the probiotic “vinegar mother,” a symbiotic collection of yeasts and beneficial bacteria. This produces acetic acid, which gives it that vinegary tang and may be responsible for a handful of potential health benefits.
The most commonly claimed benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar are blood sugar regulation and weight loss support (when combined with diet and exercise). There have been a handful of really promising studies on both these effects,1 2 although more research is needed to truly make any substantial claims.
Apple Cider Vinegar can also be a probiotic & an antioxidant, and there’s a whole order of people who say they have clearer skin after taking ACV regularly.
The downside is: ACV tastes crazy, and it’s pretty hard to keep at it day after day, spoonful by spoonful.
A gummy is born.
That’s where the gummy comes in!
Dehydrated Apple Cider Vinegar, in gummy form, transmutes an intense and unpleasant wellness routine into a delicious one. And once it’s in a gummy, you can add other fun things.
…like CBD.
We love a good plus one when it comes to our CBD gummies, whether it’s Lemon Balm or Melatonin, and it feels like we’re all just getting started with what’s possible in the CBD gummy world. What a time to be alive.
Here’s what’s in the Highline Wellness ACV gummies: 10mg of CBD and 200mg of Apple Cider Vinegar per gummy. That’s less ACV than the Goli gummies, which clock in at 500mg per gummy.
Tasting Notes
We have been on a real ACV gummy kick lately, and keep our faves in constant rotation.
Suffice to say, we know what’s out there and we have some clear preferences when it comes to how ACV gummies generally taste.
The perfect flavor is a combination of ripe apple sweetness with a hint of tartness: the gummy cutting the intense ACV, but retaining a hint of sourness to ground it in ACV realness and staving off Total Candy.
But these Highline Wellness gummies are waaaaay too sweet for us. Cloying and confusing.
There’s no need to have that much straight up sugar. These have 4 mg of sugar, which is high compared to, say, Goli’s 1 gm per gummy.
The gummy that Highline Wellness launched right before these, their caffeine gummy, veered into saccharine Watermelon Jolly Rancher flavor. It’s a shame their latest two flavors have gone into Willy Wonka territory, because their original CBD anytime gummies are some of our favorites.
We will say the hint of the underlying flavor that we get is a good one: a mellow, ripe apple, but it winds up being only a hint. We just want more flavor, without the intense sugar dusting.
But if you’ve got more of a sweet tooth than we do, you might like these!
Effectiveness
We’ll be frank: these are a CBD gummy first and foremost. We adore Highline Wellness for their CBD gummies, and, as expected, these deliver their signature calm and overall blessedly chill vibes. 😎👍🏻
But as hardcore ACV gummy-ists, we find these gummies fall a little short.
To get the full equivalent of one liquid ACV shot/day, you’ll want to eat enough gummies to get a total of 1,000 mg ACV per day. For reference, that’s two Embody or Goli gummies.
As we mentioned above, with Highline Wellness, each gummy contains 200 mg ACV. Which means if you’re taking their recommend dosage of two gummies, that’s still only 400 mg. Not even half!
Honestly, we wish these contained more ACV, but it’s possible that you just can’t cram that much CBD and ACV together into one gummy.
If you are new to ACV and looking to dip your toe into the world of ACV, this could be a great place to start.
And if you want a quality CBD gummy with a little ACV boost, this is your gummy.
Basically
We love having these on our gummy shelf, but we’ll only recommend these as a CBD gummy with a nod to Apple Cider Vinegar.
If you want to jump into the deeper ACV waters for maximum benefit, it’s hard for us not to recommend the original ACV Gummy, Goli.
In our ACV blog, we actually list our five favorites, so there are few we recommend. We have thoughts!
But we appreciate Highline Wellness for combining two of our favorite gummy ingredients here. Plus they’re donating 2% of proceeds from every purchase to the NAACP to aide in their fight towards equality for all. ✊
We can’t wait to see what they come out with next! And knowing Highline Wellness, it’ll probably be sooner than you think. 😉
